i'd usually apt remove it, apt autoremove, give a clean and reinstall. though, if the screenshot thing is an application apart, it may be possible just remove and reinstall that

No, it is NOT.
It is down to how "scrot" aka "elive-screenshot" renders.
KISS, don't re-install E23 ..... that's a windows solution.
If anything it would be with "dpkg-reconfigure enligfhtenment" but it is not going to change anythinmg.
