So btrfs is better when on a Linux it works well with?
As a beginner I do not know how to get 6.11 instead of 6.12 and anyway, according to DistroWatch it is now 6.15.8. On the old computers I suppose it does not matter or does it? When new versions are constantly made there might be a reason for it.
When 3.8.50 come will it update automatically on 3.8.49?
Anyway. 3.8.49 seems robust no matter how many apps I install and place on the Cairo-dock.
I will suggest you to install the going-to-be-released 3.8.50 special "retrowave" version , the installation will automatically upgrade your system and you will have a nice final stable version
Thank you.
Will it automatic upgrade the installation I already have or must I make a clean new install and again get all the aps I have already installed and remove all the aps I do not need?
Elive is steady and does have no problems.
"torrent-create" is a tool to create torrents to share with others (note: make sure to update elive-tools to the last version in order to have an important bug fixed on it)
let's say, you have 5GB of photos and you want to share it with someone, and there's no online services that allows to share 5gb, this can be a solution... the only problem of that is that the torrent can be findable publicly, so a solution would be to encrypt the data from a compressed file
To download existing torrents yeah, use transmission, which is provided on elive by default basically if you open the link I gave before (.torrent file) it should automatically open transmission and you will download it
When I want to share something personal I give it on a memory stick.
Reason for using Linux instead of Windows is the security (I hope) is better in Linux as I know that Windows is not at all safe. Was working for Microsoft, Ireland before Windows was officially launched. I use Windows for what I consider OK to become public and Linux for banking and other personal matters.
Have been using Tumbleweed (first SUSE I used I bought and it came in a big parcel of disks in 199?) but the terminal in Elive and a few Arch distributions are easier and faster to use.
Have an old computer not used a while, wiped it from all data in it, and installed 3.8.49 and followed your instructions and now I have the 32.8.50 ISO.
Please tell me if / when Elive is out of beta it will automatically update / upgrade to stable? Yes I have noticed that 3.8.50 has stable written, so is it the stable or still beta?
The OS in itself is Stable as is the E16 Desktop it has.
What's still in Beta is the Elive-Desktop itself based on the latest Enlightenment. The previous Stable version (3.0) was E17 based.
Admittedly it isn't very clear what it currently is, as generally distros tend to use the stable/beta nomer for the OS as a whole. Sorry.
I am not really sure what to think about the image on the monitor.
It looks like a picture that could be used for next, not yet (possibly will never be) written book in the series Riverworld. I read the books long before the millennium.
Great use of impossible colours.
Yes. It is a fantastic computer, 18” monitor still perfect. In 2009 no other laptop I know of was anywhere near in capability and speed, dual raid ssd for computing and 500G ssd for storing of data. I used it for desktop publishing.
The old Logitech trackball is the best ever made. Too bad they discontinued it.
No other trackball has since come near to comfort while working several hours, but now all seems to rely on AI.
