Can not install anything on fresh install

cannot install with apt-get install or use apt-get update as it just hangs trying to contact servers, i can ping the servers though ...

fresh install of latest elive

Sometimes the repositories do not react when they're being worked on or updated.

Try again later.

BTW,
Elive has shortcuts for different 'apt' commands where i.e 'apug' is a combined update and upgrade command, 'api' is install and 'apui' is update and install.

See the output of:
"alias |grep apt"

It's been 2 days... how much longer?

Well, you yourself stated:

But alas, that is NOT the latest Elive. It's the old -Stable which is based on Debian Wheezy and isn't supported any more. It's there as a demo of how a finished Elive used to be.
I'm surprised you're able to ping those ..... I certainly cannot.

The current latest Elive version is 3.8.40 (Debian Bookworm based) or if you're interested the Retrowave release is very nice. Both are available in 64 or 32 bit.

Admittedly, having Stable as the top-most page entry and Retrowave at the bottom of the list doesn't make much sense. Sorry for that!

I have updated the big "warning" banner of the stable download with a more bold message "do not use this version": Elive 3.0 Stable - Download

I've now downloaded the correct version
