Elive 3.8.50 Stable ‘Retrowave’ is released!

The Elive Team is pleased to announce a new stable release: Elive Retrowave 3.8.50 LTS, featuring a fully Synthwave‑inspired OS.

This version has many months of strong testing to ensure stability and improvements keep the system lightweight, efficient, and extremely reliable. We are happy to offer this release in both 32‑bit and 64‑bit versions, absolutely free of charge, now and in the future.

For those who prefer to keep the classic look and feel, the installer includes an option to switch to the default desktop designs, making this variant fully compatible with the main versions.

Unique features on this release:

  • OpenRC: Included optional init system available during installation for users who prefer a SystemD alternative that adheres closely to the UNIX philosophy.

  • Synthwave Player: An impressive new music player developed for months by Elive is now showing to the world and included by default.

  • Voice Control: An extremely-light application for hands-free interaction (no-AI), always optional.

  • Desktop Clock: A simple, lightweight desktop clock that we made for the E16 desktop.

  • Enlightenment 27: A preview of the last Enlightenment E27 with a few Elive features included is included by default to use and play.

  • Debian 12 base: This will be the last build of Elive including the very solid Debian 12 + Backports with all the stability reached during this time in an extremely polished system, a perfect LTS snapshot of Elive Stable.

I personally want to give a BIG thank you to every person who is collaborating on the Patreon of Elive with their special feature announcements, which makes it possible to keep Elive alive and always full of new unique surprises!

Torrent doesn't seems to send any data, can you try to seed it?

And put the isos in the downloading directory, then click in "verify local data" and it will be shared from your sides since they have the same checksums

@triantares @TheTechRobo

I’ve manually downloaded and started seeding. I’m seeing connections from clients, so hopefully should be good now.

Thanks a lot @panoram ! im in a public place now and my upload speed is at 50 kb/s lol

Started downloading the isos from the directory but .... the torrent is already faster than a direct download here in Europe. :w00t:
Will let it seed indefinitely, once complete.

Also seeding the torrent. Unfortunately I have to take my mirror down for a little bit because of bandwidth usage. I think it'll reset tomorrow.

I think the mirrors are a problem, if they are slow (because of release-time), will avoid more people using (downloading) elive, we should get more mirrorss, from unlimited bandwith methods if possible

mirrors aint a problem. you can download elive from distrowatch. the problem with elive is that although it has many features with e16 . however every theme you have used so far doesnt compare to the e24-e27.1 stock standard theme. e27 is sleek and polished. i have followed enlightenment since raster deveoped it at UNSW back in the 90’s. the reason no one uses enlightenment is political. however distros that so called support enlightenment are doing a great disservice to a great project…i know that you think exotic backgrounds are cool but they are tacky themes are visually awful. its like looking through a psychodelic drug induced state. even in your install setup . you clain e27 installer is not stable. and thats true i tried it and it failed to install. so why did you include it in the install process. why not produce a sytemd free e27 only version and you might get more people use it. and concentrate making e27 desktop different then e27 standard but unique to elive. All linux desktops suffer from Windows superiority complex. instead applying Windows strenghts and functions they try to avoid them and fail..

Thanks for the suggestions, most of these things are already work-in-progress, but not enough resouces  , so we need to be patient

es un gusto poder alimentar el torrent,

es por ahora mi granito de arena de apoyo a este magnifico proyecto
