I think you should add "pasystray" or some easy to use graphical tool for people to choose their sound sources...
It hink it could make people their's easier.

I just tried it and in somewhat is more intuitive (for more possibilities specially) and in another side also a bit more complicated
as a volume system i don't think that there's much mistery, people just wants to change the volume, for that they have 3 available options:
- search the mixer and run it
- mouse-wheel on the Dock speaker icon (so we have already a gadget on desktop)
- use the hotkeys
talking about sources of sound, its true that looks more intuitive, but in the mixer is also possible to do it if im not wrong
