Ehy guys i just got a bunch of new laptops to finally upgrade to.
My dear core2duo T6600 was actually getting quite slow lately ahah
So now i definitely want a laptop with latest ubuntu release, one with Elive and another one with windows 10.
The windows 10 one was already choiced, now i need to choose which one i should keep with elive installed on: the newer one or the older one. The newer one runs on 6th gen high power efficiency I5, so i indeed want to put the most power saving distro on it, while the Core T6600 will be used just for dirty job on AC.
I'd like to hear some opinions about it: Is Elive latest release actually gentle on power usage? In my experience it was not so bad at all, so i'd go with it on the I5. What do you think?
Well I can't really compare as I've only got Elive on my machines.
The thing I do know is that Elive beats Ubuntu handsdown in a similar setup, unsurprisingly.
On my latest machine:
System: Kernel: 5.18.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: Enlightenment "1.0.25" Distro: Elive GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye)

It has excellent battery (5-6 hrs depending on usage) life even though the battery itself is not in 100% condition anymore .... Practically the same as the facory specs in the folder, which are usually inflated.
The oldest one that you got, of course
Any opinions on laptop-mode-tools vs TLP for battery life?
My experience is that there's no real difference except that I'm not too sure TLP works well on recent devices.
