Hello everyone, I would like to migrate from Mint 22.1 Xia to Elive 3.8.52 without losing my /home directory. Is this possible, easy to do, and risk-free? I have everything in my /home directory and don't want to lose it. Thanks.
Hey @triki1, I would perfectly say a -yes-, so: migration mode (which is a requirement to be suggested after to select your install root partition), should take care of all this. @triantares already did some successful tests (but seems like sometimes it doesn't fully migrated, as @triantares pointed out recently in a test from bodhi)
Now, I cannot guarantee that it will 100% work ,only that the feature is implemented and should work 
In other words: it is very important to make backups, and is the only reliable way to not lose data, it is also important because any disk can have a hardware failure and with an extra disk you can have a copy of it... my suggestion is to buy an "enough TB's external disk" and make a full backup, you can optimize the backups too to ignore some uneeded big directories if they are waste data (like dummy chroots)
Personally, I have never lost anything from my home-directory (be it in a separate own partition or inside a large root partition) when migrating.
But ... as @Thanatermesis says ..... there's always something that can go wrong, for a number of unforeseen reasons (think disk failure or silly choices) so: Just simply create a backup.
Me I've never had to use back-ups i.e : If you've got a backup nothing ever happens ... you only get hits when you don't have one. 
Thanks for the feedback. I didn't want to take any risks, so I made a full backup of my Mint system. Then I performed a clean install of Elive 3.8.52. When I installed the Trixie update, I got a "glibc not found" error upon rebooting. I'm going to do another clean install tonight.
