Terminology hangs whole desktop/system

hi,

terminology hangs/lags whole desktop/system, mouse movement is so slow like 1mm in 30s or just skiping from one place on screen to another,
all key bindings not responding, etc al+f4 doesnt work cant enter any menus,
hiting close buton on terminology closes it - but that procedure can last like 5-15 minutes of just trying to point to close buton
typing word, lags 1 leter 5mins

and this happens then terminology i slaunched from desktop or autolaunched from i gues e17

if im launching it from other terminal like my fave quaketerminal , it works fine..

whats happening ?

First Of All
a warm welcome!

For yor problem as per your description -
this happens only
when you start Terminology ?

If so:
Pls reboot in Live mode from the install media and report if you encounter the same issue,
or not.

Kdrgds

hi,

thx for warm welcome :),
(i was user in old forum long time ago, sadly i forgot logins and old emails are not usable..)

and this happens then terminology is launched from desktop and/or autolaunched from i gues e17, if im launching it from other terminal like my fave quaketerminal , it works fine..

i gues i must somehow debug that.. or get loged..

Welcome back!

Pls reboot into Live mode from the install media
try Terminology in Live mode
and report if you encounter the same issue, or not. :surprise:

Kdrgds

Dont have media, cant do that at the moment.
But i know it worked fine on live.
My system is prety fresh, instald about 3 month ago, and noticed this problem imediatly after install.

yes it was pretty broken, but now we are using a new one here based in discourse

if you run "sudo htop", the higher cpu process shown is terminology? what about your RAM used? it sounds like also you are out of RAM (more exactly, using SWAP, and using swap is an awful experience like the one you describe)

I have noticed an high consuming of terminology in the new development, but should not affect to the 3.0.x stable versions, if you still having the problem (and is not the RAM thing), try these steps:

  • close all your terminology's
  • open 1 terminology
  • right click -> settings -> disable "multiple instances, one process"
  • close terminology
  • reboot if needed (to make sure that you don't have blocked terminology processes in backgrounds)
  • see if bug is solved (if you are able to reproduce it in normal mode)
