E16 will need a dock bar?

ya I do still have that ugly stuff on top of my screen

logout / login

I installed through the command line using @Thanatermesis commands
And I did click yes I want open GL.

Tks though... the speed is not that bad

weel, he is also only a human (still, lateron become a God, may be  )

the xfce addition is defenility wrong.

look at my answer there is to see what you need

YOu mean that if I install though synaptic it'll work better ?

How To Install Cairo Dock And Add It To Autostart At Login

apt install gnome settings daemon

...then (for making sure that you snatch all depending packages cairo dock may need)
synaptik
cairo-dock
install
NOTE: Make sure that you also install:
cairo-dock-gnome-integration-plug-in
and
cairo-dock-dbus-plug-in-interface-python

When it comes to the dialog box asking:
"activating OpenGL" ? = Yes and keep the decision

.... then if you want to add Cairo Dock to autostart at login (very useful):
killall cairo-dock
apug
echo "cairo-dock" >> "$HOME/.e16/startup-applications.list"
eesh restart

then
logout
login
= done

tks for all
Cairo-Dock is really cool and will be appreciated from a lot
But I removed it...
Was missing too much things from my other environment " native 316 " environnement and some features were conflicting.. WIll explain later

NOw customized my station to be ready tomorrow for work ( as I just reinstalled it)

@yoda

I just found "plank"

api plank

much much lighter

but i dont know how to add apps on it lol

yeah, it is very simple and not so awesome, but at least a dock.
Though it is possible to make it more glamouros, but if I remember right it needs to be done with code,
but am not sure.
Am dealing with Cairo a long time meanwhile, before with Docky; Plank comes from Elemetary Linux, which I hate too much.
Docky is slim and fast, btw.
Com on, you can not get it to live on an i7?
There must be a serious miskonfiguration at your side, here its running as it should do;
no lag or slow drawing on 372_a ...
Try it on your next install then

In doubt, start an app, then click on its icon which appears in the dock and choose
add - keep - or smthg similar and SAVE

seems like recently abandoned: https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=docky

yeah, 3.7.3 with a preconfiguration to it

well, cairo-docker doesn't looks bad, it takes a few resources but not so much for what it actually does!

The 3.7.3 will include a default good configuration, hopefully lighter, but without missing features, we will need to check how much resources it takes and how much we can free (wasted) ones

Than I just ran the installer, yes 6g was updated and cairo is not installed

Wonderful news. Thanks!

That would be good

Welcome
Read also this:

I just t Tried PLANK
Less fancy and no bells and whistle and no cool AddOns like in Cairo

but FAST !!!

I THink I will keep it

Could you offer Plank and Cairo in option ?
PLan : Simple but faster and used less ressources
Cairo : beautifull with several usefull Add-Ons

So you choose a food description and let people decide if they want a DOCK and if yes, 2 choices ?

aah, thanks for that, seems like it were required to make the trash and the filemanager working!

but... seems like my filemanager doesn't quite works for me, it works correclty for you? more exactly: clickin in the trash opens "rage", trying to open the filemanager (thunar) sometimes opens, sometimes not... wtf

PCmanFM do
es the Job...
Did Not try with Thunar yet...

I think that you can configure cairo-dock to remove all the fancy

i don't think that plank can be an option, so i don't see any way to include icons (and of course this will be a pain for the users), its more like... let's call it in an ugly way "useless" lol

TO add an icon simple
once you opened an app, the icon is there in PLANK, you right click it KEEP IN THE DOCK

PLank is simple... But I'll try again Cairo

CTRL right click to access preferences

But we don't want any simplicissimus
We want Awesomeness
