the option "under 3gb ram" is in fact for all the options, it means "this 64bit kernel/system is for computers with more of 3gb ram"... i think that the message should be moved to the top image to feel like a more general setting
this sounds like e17 and not e22, an easy way to see the difference is "if the borders are 4-buttons and white" (elive theme for e17)
ok sounds like e17, e22 has no engage
this is more complex, you should try to reinstall (upgrade mode) with the 3.7.1 version which includes the new needed settings for sudo
When installing, sometime there are several seconds before something happen after we launched the install
Would it be better to make some window appear now right after we click install ?
In case impatient people click everywhere or think the install didn't worked and click it again ?
You know what I mean ?
I am presently reinstalling my laptop and I am offered
ext4
reiser4
btrfs
Is this new ?
I though my Desktop I installed using btrfs was reiser4...
for now I choosed reyser4 for the latop. If it's better and a more recent version that btrfs 3.7.0, I will reinstall my other Laptop and my desktop. Yoda want the latest and greated file system LOL
Also, on the HP Laptop, there is a 32 GB SSD and the USB stick I booted with
I was offered where to put GRUB.
IS it a 3.7.1 + update things ?
Asking that as my desktop still can boot easily into another OS (Manjaro). I had to unplug the other SSD disk to allow ELive to boot properly

Hi!
Strange! I set at start (on the USB key), E22 (and for sure I'm not drunk! ;@) )!!!
For Blender, I just start it on the 1001XP / Elive 3.0.3 and it runs slowly but well; I seen that here it's the 2.78 version, where in 3.7.1 it's the 2.79... OpenGL probably limited by the computer...
Sorry but here I don't know what you mean!?
When I wrote "under 3Gb", I was willing "Live with saved sessions" because it's not writed "computers with +3gb ram"...
Is that mean that Elive 64bits is formely, only, for +3GB ram machines? Is it in this cas absolute RAM or is it possible to deal with swap?
Minutes later:
I just restart on key the 1001xp: chosing E22 on the DOS-like window at start, but just have an advice about "E17 not xxxxxxx"...?
Salutations.
Is it possible with the last version of the installer, we're not offered anymore to have a SWAP file ? It didn't seemed to ask it... I choosed reiser4 as fs
Yoda
I know we don't want a swap but for that little 2 Gig of RAM laptop, I was wondering it it could have been usefull...
yes
do you remember on which step? before and after which messages?
yes
no, reiser4 is not btrfs, they are two different options, in other words, btrfs OR reiser4 OR ext4
yes, the normal behaviour is to ask where to put grub, unless is autodetected in a smart/very "guaranteed that should be X disk"
mmh.. this was your issue installing in the 2nd manjaron disk? its fixed? im a bit lost now
if you need to unplug the 2nd disk to install elive we have an issue
note: bios always boot the "first disk found", OR the legacy/uefi preference (in my laptop i can selected if uefi or legacy should boot first), so maybe the good disk to boot is elive but since manjaron has uefi it switches to that disk instead (just speculating options)
I choosed reiser4
and to encyrpt my disk
result here :
Is it how it should show ? within the encrypted partition it is still reiser4 ?
E22 was not pre-downloaded on 3.7.1, so this should have worked only if you had connection to internet on -that- moment (when you selecting it), otherwise the install of e22 fails and you switch back to e17 (this is fixed for the next build, including e22 pre-downloaded, so no internet is requried to make it working)
you have it working? in my (low-end) laptop doesnt works too because of the opengl version stuff, it will be probably that requires a graphic card with newer opengl drivers/support
nah, just forget that , ill noted an improvement for this message
the "+3gb ram" meants to be just a reference for novice users to know if his computer requires the 64bit version or the 32bit version
(which is also related as how the kernel supports the amount of ram, 32bits version wont support more than 3gb of ram)
I confirm the issue to happen only with USB-type WIFI's, the bug was already reported to debian, but elive cannot wait for bugs fixed , so i just fixed the network-manager package with a setting to make it working. Please tell me if this solves the bug:
apug
reboot
that's all lol
booting your installed system would confirm this more easy :), checking your fstab or running "mount | grep reiser"
Yes, your setup looks correct, I see that there's no swap and this is good because you have only 30gb of disk (it would be a waste!), so the installer was right but not mentioning you about the existence of something called swap lol
note: the encryption looks like to gparted like a partition, but is a layer, the real filesystem is inside it (thats why gparted dont shows it, but gnome-disks does)
luminosity keys now working on my HP Laptop with the last updated installer
Same things for sound keys !
Good job
yes it worked
reiser 4
as for my desktop
/dev/sda2 on / type btrfs (rw,relatime,nobarrier,compress=zstd,ssd,space_cache,commit=120,subvolid=5,subvol=/)
So My deskotp is in btrfs ?
So if I understand, btrfs is reiser3 ?
And when I installed my Desktop, you were not ready yet for reiser4 but now the last installer do offer reiser4 that is supperior / more recent and I could reinstall all my machines, if I want, using reiser 4 ?
yes
lol no, each one is a different filesystem to use, and you cannot use both at the same time... reiser3 is and old version of reiserfs, reiser4 is a new different one... ext* are other filesystems too, and btrfs is a "new replacement for ext* filesystems" developed by kernel - btrfs and reiser3 has no relation at all (the most distant relation in all possible filesystems avaialble lol)
exactly , but you are the first to use reiser4 in a real install at the moment, i won't be hurry to install the desktop on reiser4 too, just play with it for a time and see how behaves
Hi!
E17/E22: ok! If I want a web connexion at start, I have to mic-mac: My only source web is via my smartphone, so I need to use one of my computers as a bridge to make it... I will!
On Dell M4400 now: So with "private drivers" (nvidia) & E17: Fn light & sound ok; wifi ok; Chrome ok but when expend the window, it goes phantom...
Restarts same conditions with E16...
and LOL ok
DO I pass my test :
btrfs is a good file system tested and used around the world and is optimized for SSD + a lot of other features
reiser4 is one of the most advanced and innovative file system, better than btrfs in serval points (I suppose). Could reiser4 make improve speed of a workstation compared to btrfs ? To continue : reiser4 has been there for several years ? but still some kind of experimental FS with less support / less adopted around the world ?
you can switch between e17 and e22 (not compatible both atm) in any moment on this way:
