I meant reinstall the PC LOL Not the Desktop, sorry for confusion
I like it Perfect
Hi!
So: same conditions but with E22: eeepc 1001xp swapoff -a, Chromium 7 tabs with one running video, LibreOffice, Treminology, Conky tells: Memory 1.42Gb/1.94, CPU chromium around 25%, enlightenment around 25% too, Xorg near 14% (all 3 seems more regular than under E16 (less up/down)..?)
Seems a bit strange if it goes better without swap, even on low memory machine..! Very impressive are (again) your optimizations!
Does your method need it to be installed ?
I am asking that because of those 2 commands
killall cairo-dock
elive-skel upgrade .config/cairo-dock
It's not already installed so...
SO I Restart my Desktop configuration after doing all the command and :
Option to install Cairo was not there...
I clicked Conky and it didn't show up on my screen..,.. May be because of MultiScreen
which applications?
Xchat, Chromium LibreOffice
verify that is not caused by the swap
0/0
its only in live mode or also in installed mode
am on installed system of course
happens in e22 too?
I don't care , don't have e22
you should repeat these steps but having installed cairo-dock before too, follow first the steps by @Rebel450: E16 will need a dock bar?
which desktop? it will be normal this slowness if you are in e17
still wait for your response to my pm =
another wasted day on my side here
apse dock ?
else the other steps where not clear
apse dock that I can do LOL
give me time to answer everything
again:
Elive OS 3.7.2_Alpha 64bit
e16 DE with Cairo
mmh, that is strange, how much time these applications requires to start?
try to run them from terminal like:
strace chromium
you will see a ton of messages, but if you see them "stay" for more than 1 second in a line, then there's a problem
so I can't launch manually your script or window that is doing the installation of Cairo when a new user launch their station for the 1st time ?
forget it, not a big thing... tks though
I'm on: "Thanatermesis, post:71, topic:1149"
"try to install this package manually: http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/e/eeepc-acpi-scripts/eeepc-acpi-scripts_1.1.13_all.deb"
so eeepc 1001xp 3.7.3 E22: it tells that already installed (logical), but there's no /etc/default/eee-acpi-scripts ... Is this normal and have to create the file or should (supposedly) it has to be here?
makes Chromium starting up like a flash .....
now it is srarting also from dock fast - huh???
lol
ok you need to isolate the problem (assuming you still have it), like:
- reboot
- run it as normal
- slow? try the strace option
- fast? the problem is running from the desktop:
- next: isolate more: it becomes fast because running from terminal or because adding "strace" ?
- next
- bla bla
mhm, ya ya
next
i mean "next test for isolate the cause"
Brb 1hour or so
